Edmy Angelica Ortiz

Flamenco Worcester • Lead dancer/instructor.

Born and raised in the Dominican Republic, Edmy is an Architectural Designer, Oils Paint-Acrylic artist and a Flamenco dancer/instructor.
As a Flamenco dancer... Edmy started Flamenco back in 2001 at the Academy of Spaniard Dance "El Patio Andalúz" where she acquired her solid foundation by studying "Sevillanas, Castañuelas y Técnicas de Clásico Español", directed by Paquita Acosta (Spanish dancer) and since 2003 under the mentoring-training of Maestro Ramon de los Reyes.

Edmy counts with over 10 years of experience sharing her passion by teaching and performing in the Worcester-Boston area. Mrs. Ortiz has also integrated herself into workshops from Issac de los Reyes, Nino de los Reyes, Soledad Barrio, La Lupi, Pastora Galvan, Jesus Carmona, Jose Maya and Omayra Amaya.

I am a Venezuelan musicologist with ample expertise in string instruments from all America.
I was fortunate to train in classic guitar at the Conservatory of Music "Jose Luis Paz" in Venezuela under "El Sistema" education program. I am passionate about Hispanic rhythms such as Bossa from Brazil, Flamenco from Spain, Tango from Argentina, Latin jazz from Venezuela and Cuba, and Folk Mexican music.
I am also a teacher and inspired by "El Sistema" I am determined to impact the life of children trough the learning of music. I train the new generation of musicians in Bajo Sexto, Cuatro, 12 Strings Guitar, Electric Guitar, Bass Guitar, Vihuela, Ukulele, Piano, and Afro Percussion instruments.
